Physicists in Germany have created a material that is harder than diamond. Natalia Dubrovinskaia and colleagues at the University of Bayreuth made the new material by subjecting carbon-60 molecules to immense pressures. The new form of carbon, which is known as aggregated diamond nanorods, is expected to have many industrial applications (App. Phys. Lett. 87 083106).
Even though I’ve only had my D70 for less then a year, I still want one of these babies. If only I had that kind of cash.
Is Nikon quietly prepping its response to Canon’s new EOS 5D? Nothing confirmed as of yet, but supposedly they’re getting ready to introduce the D200, a new 12.4 megapixel digital SLR with a 2.5-inch LCD (incidentally, it sounds like this is a totally different camera than the Nikon D200 we first heard some rumors about last year).

Update: Turns out these rumors didn’t come to pass, but the D200 should make an appearence sometime this fall.

Mister Wind-Up Zombie sez, “This past weekend a zombie quasi-flashmob two or three *hundred* strong materialized in the center of Vancouver and staggered through an upscale mall, onto the skytrain and down Main Street before joining their resting brethren at a local cemetry.

Created at the Centro Stile Lamborghini in Sant’Agata Bolognese by Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Lamborghini Design, the “Concept S” is his extreme interpretation of an “open car”.
