The age old question: is Nikon or Canon the better brand of camera?

We already know that Nikon owners are the most satisfied camerea users. In Luminous Landscape’s Nikon D3 / D300 Vs. Canon comparison it would appear that the Nikon brand remains the champion, mainly because of their extensive feature list and thoughtful design.

Canons are the best cameras available designed by engineers, and that Nikons are the best cameras one can buy designed by photographers. There may well be some truth to this aphorism. — Michael Reichmann

It should be noted that this review is coming from a self-professed Canon user. In reality, I believe it’s up to each person to learn about the strengths of both systems before plunking down the cash. What do you photographers think?

Update: The Nikon D3 has won CAMERA GRAND PRIX 2008 Camera of the Year.

Bic money: Casas can use up four 14p ballpoints on one picture, but his prizewinning works already fetch up to £3,750 each

They may look like pin-sharp photographs — but these amazing pictures are actually drawings created with the humble ballpoint pen. The stunning pictures, measuring up to 10ft high, were drawn by a rising star of the art world, Juan Francisco Casas. Casas, 31, can use up to four 14p ballpoint pens for a canvas and his works are already a sell-out at exhibitions. Formerly a traditional painter, Juan began the drawings three years ago based on photographs of nights out with his friends.

Penman Juan Francisco Casas with his work. He said, ‘It started off as a joke, to try and make something so realistic that people would think is a photo. He has exhibited in Chicago and in his native Spain, and is preparing an exhibition in Rome where he now lives. At an exhibition in Madrid last week he sold 60 works for between 1,000 and 5,000 euros apiece (£750 to £3,750). He said: “It was a real shock that it was so successful. I would love to come to England, but at the moment I haven’t got a lot of work, as I’ve sold everything.”

Highest Bungee Jump in the World

Bunjee Jump at Macau Tower

I now have one more thing to do before I die.

The Macau Sky Tower is located in the former Portuguese colony of Macau, now part of the People’s Republic of China. It was created by casino billionaire Stanley Ho Hung-Sun after he saw a similar tower in Auckland, New Zealand. Measuring 338 m (1,109 ft) in height from ground level to the highest point, the Macau Tower features a number of extreme actives, including the skywalk, mast climb, sky jump, and of course, the ever popular bungee jump.

The leap is taken from the main observation deck, 233 meters (765 feet) above the ground. This happens to currently be the world’s highest bungee jump from a standing structure (there are “higher” jumps). There are a few videos of the jump after the jump.

The man with a bullwhip and a fedora is back. Indiana Jones, one of the more memorable characters in film history, will be returning to the screen this summer in “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. Vanity Fair has just released an interesting article about the franchise and its three main players: Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford.
